TP-Link TL-SG108PE: what its ports actually support
A previous article confused this model with a 10GbE switch. Here are the manufacturer-backed facts.

We explain published product specifications. We have not independently bench-tested these products and currently show no affiliate purchase links.
The important correction
The TL-SG108PE is an eight-port Gigabit Easy Smart switch. TP-Link lists eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports. It is not an eight-port 10GbE switch, and the listed ports do not include an SFP+ uplink.
The current TL-SG108PE V5 specification describes four 802.3af/at PoE+ ports (ports 1–4), with a total 64W PoE budget. A per-port 30W capability is not a promise that four ports can each deliver 30W simultaneously.
Hardware revisions matter
Do not apply V5 specifications blindly to every TL-SG108PE in circulation. TP-Link's V1 documentation describes four PoE ports with a 55W total budget and different power standards. Check the hardware version printed on the actual unit before relying on a number.
The switch offers web-based management and VLAN-related features, but it should not be advertised as having a 10GbE connection or full enterprise switch functions without verification.
- Eight RJ45 ports running up to 1Gbps each on the model page.
- Four PoE-capable ports; total budget depends on hardware version.
- Web-management and VLAN features; consult the version-specific manual for limits.
Who should consider it
This class of switch may be relevant for a small Gigabit network where a few compatible devices need PoE. It is not an appropriate choice when your requirement is a 10GbE connection between Proxmox hosts or to high-speed storage.
